Staying Safe Online
Here are some tips to help you use this site safely, especially if you share a device with someone else.
Use private browsing
Private browsing (also called incognito mode) stops the browser from saving your history.
How to open private browsing
- Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N (or tap the three dots at the top right, then 'New incognito window')
- Safari (iPhone): Tap the tabs button at the bottom right, then tap 'Private'
- Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N (or tap the three dots, then 'New InPrivate window')
- Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P (or tap the three lines, then 'New Private Window')
When you close a private window, the browser won't remember what you looked at.
Clear your browser history
If you didn't use private browsing, you can delete your history afterwards.
How to clear your history
- Chrome: Press Ctrl + H, then click 'Clear browsing data'
- Safari (iPhone): Go to Settings, then Safari, then 'Clear History and Website Data'
- Edge: Press Ctrl + H, then click 'Clear browsing data'
- Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete
Using shared devices
- Always log out when you're done.
- Don't save your password in the browser if others use the same device.
- Use the 'Leave quickly' button at the top of the page if you need to close the site fast.
